Prompt quality is now an operational skill. The best teams treat prompts as reusable assets, not one-time chat inputs.
The 4-part prompt template
Use a fixed structure:
- Role: who the model is acting as.
- Goal: what final output is required.
- Constraints: format, tone, word count, allowed sources.
- Evaluation: self-check criteria before returning output.
Build a team prompt library
Maintain prompts in categories:
- outreach and email,
- social media and event copy,
- research summaries,
- interview prep and resume support.
Every prompt should include:
- version number,
- owner,
- last test date.
Quality loop
Run monthly prompt reviews. Keep only prompts with high reliability in real tasks. Archive low-performing prompts instead of endlessly patching them.
Prompt engineering becomes scalable when teams optimize for consistency, not creativity per request.
